Hungry for Attention

In the book Black Boy by Richard Wright, he describes his life as a child. It is not a good one. He gets a lot of trouble. What has he done? He has hung out at a tavern, burned down the house, killed a cat, whispered sexual phrases to his grandmother, and written swear words on other people's windows. All of this is happened because Richard has a hunger for attention. He killed the cat because his dad was ignoring and sleeping most of the day. He burned the house because everyone's attention was turned towards his grandmother. I don't know about the sexual stuff, but he hung out at the tavern because his mother wasn't paying attention to him at work.
Richard is not alone in his hunger for attention. Kids all over America want attention. Everyone knows about the situation where the younger siblings are given more attention than the older siblings. There is also the situation where the younger sibling is used to having all the attention and another baby comes along and that younger sibling becomes jealous. Situations like these are on sitcoms a lot. Also, most wrongdoings among kids (wrongdoings meaning broken vases, broken windows, injuries, etc.) are either accidents or caused by lack of attention go packers.
