Reader Response

Letter from Birmingham Jail was a story about a letter MLK sent to critics from Birmingham jail. In it he explained his actions and why he decided to have a peaceful protest. I thought King's argument was solid. However, the critics confuse me. They talk about nonviolent protest in such a harsh way. The critics say that the marchers should pospone the protest or applaud the police for stopping it. The critics think of the protest as unjust, but the protest is just a peaceful march through Birmingham. Martin Luther King should not have to defend himself for the protest.
