King Still King?

Martin Luther King was a clergyman, activist, and prominent leader of the African American Civil Rights Movement. His "I Have a Dream" speech and peaceful protest inspired millions. But after many years, how relevant is Martin Luther King?  Martin Luther King himself has lost most of his relevance. Many people only know about the two things I said before. People won't usually mention Martin Luther King outside of the classroom. However, while King has lost his relevance, King's message of peaceful protest lives on. In most of the protests today, the protesters aren't violent aside from throwing stones and eggs at officers. Most of the violence come from the governments not the protesters. King's success through peaceful protest has inspired all of us. The extreme of a violent protest is a revolution, where citizens are at war with the government. The fact that there hasn't been a violent revolution since 1959 (the Cuban Revolution) suggests that Martin Luther King's message has been relevant for all these years. In America, if a group of protesters open fire on policemen they are thought of as extremists. If they protest peacefully, they are thought of as heroes.
