Beat Street is a 1984 movie about 80's hip hop in the Bronx. In the movie, Kenny 'Double K' Kirkland, played by Guy Davis is an aspiring DJ, while his friend, Ramon, is a passionate tagger? who wants to spread hip hop through his art on the trains. The rest of the movie is mostly predictable. The hip-hop guy falling for the classical girl; Ramon with his girlfriend and disapproving parents. You would expect that in the end, the hip-hop guy and the classical girl both learn a lot and start to appreciate each others music; and Ramon finally finds a nice place to live with his girlfriend and gets the approval of his parents. Double K then does an amazing new years show with Ramon and their girlfriends watching, and in the end while everyone is cheering his kisses his girl and the camera slowly fades away. While most of this does happen (except that last part), the thing that really shocked me was that they killed Ramon. Why?
