Propaganda in 2011

prop·a·gan·da

  [prop-uh-gan-duh]  Show IPA
–noun
1.
information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc.

Propaganda, from the definition above, means advertisements or commercials. A lot of people will probably say negative things about it. How people will usually stretch the truth in those ads, how its wrong to launch a smear campaign, how it persuades people into doing or buying stuff they don't want. I think propaganda is a good thing though. Obviously, I'm not including smear campaigns or ads that lie or trick you into buying their products. But other propaganda I'm fine with. There is nothing wrong with commercials trying to sell you a product. Sure it interrupts your shows, but it also helps pay for it. How else do you think they got all those people with the light up suits making shapes during halftime in the Super Bowl?
If there is a small company making quality products, how else will they get their name out there, if there isn't any propaganda? How else will you be able to decide which airline to choose without propaganda? If you can see past the misleading information in a lot of commercials, you could get a lot of genuine information out of it.
