Jay and Nick

Jay and Nick...First I want to focus on Jay. Gatsby is obviously hiding something and I think that it is probably something like what Mr. Wolfshiem did with the World Series. That would explain how he lost all the money he got from his dead family and then made the rest himself. It would also explain how Gatsby would be friends with someone like Wolfshiem and tried to give Nick an offer, which Nick describes as what could have been "one of the crises of my life". Also, A lot of the rumors about Gatsby say he has killed someone. As for the relationship between Jay and Nick, I'm not sure about that. There are a lot of things that point toward their friendship being fake: Jay invites him only knowing that he knew Daisy and lived next to her. He rushes things with Nick (after just a couple minutes of talking to him he invites him to the shore). However, Gatsby seems like a nice guy. At all of his crazy and wild parties, he doesn't get drunk, but just watches. One thing we know to be real about him is his love for Daisy. Someone who loves someone that much can't be a nice guy. As for Gatsby ignoring Nick while with Daisy, I don't think that is because he was using him. I think he kept Nick around because he didn't want to make him leave after all that he has done for him, and he just simply didn't notice him while with Daisy.
