John Proctor: Hero or Stooge?

–noun
1.
an entertainer who feeds lines to the main comedian andusually serves as the butt of his or her jokes.
2.
any underling, assistant, or accomplice.

John Proctor is a hero. He might have had a lot of issues with his life, and maybe at that time he wouldn't have been considered a hero (he missed Sabbath, committed adultery, etc.), but by moral standards he is. Proctor had a lot of problems. He was a sinner, and being a Puritan meant that he thought he would burn in hell. That also meant that he probably had some of the problems listed in the "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" blog. Proctor also had an affair with Abigail and from him saying, "I may have looked up", he still has feelings for her. But what makes a hero are his morals and what he does with them. John, being a Christian man, would rather take death than break another commandment, even when so many people have done it already.
